TPI People Spotlight: National Recruitment Manager Josh Meyers

Josh Meyers joined Technology Partners in June 2019. In reflecting on his tenure up to this point and looking ahead to 2024, he sat down with our communications team to talk through his experience.

You’ve been with Technology Partners for a large chunk of your career…what brought you here and more importantly, what has kept you here?

I initially started my career in human resources, but I found it wasn’t the right fit for me. I discovered I had a passion for recruitment, which led me to explore opportunities in that field. I eventually landed a role in healthcare recruitment in St. Louis. While I enjoyed the work, I felt there wasn’t much room for advancement. A friend at Technology Partners recommended I check them out, and after meeting the owners and interviewing for a recruiter position, I realized it was a great fit.

What’s keeping you around?

Working closely with my director, Ryan LeBlanc, has been a significant factor. We collaborated to establish an offshore recruitment team, which had its challenges but has been a rewarding experience. Now, I’m involved in strategic business development and engage with hiring managers and other team members. The dynamic nature of the job and the opportunity to tackle new challenges every day are things I truly enjoy.

What does the technology recruitment field look like as we head into 2024?

Currently, there’s a high demand for talent, with many people passively looking for new opportunities. The contracting world is also seeing some budget constraints. Looking ahead to 2024, we anticipate more candidates and clients becoming active in the market. We’re also seeing a surge in positions related to artificial intelligence. Additionally, companies are exploring opportunities in different cities and countries, due in part to the changes brought about by COVID-19.

What makes Technology Partners different than other staffing partners?

One significant distinction is our transparent pricing model. We prioritize taking care of our candidates, ensuring any bill rate increase benefits them directly. We’re focused on building relationships rather than pursuing quick profits. Our values, instilled by our owners, Greg and Lisa Nichols, create a family-like atmosphere that sets us apart. We’re open and upfront with both clients and candidates, and this approach has resonated positively with both parties.

You’ve got some football coaching in your background…how do you leverage that experience to lead your team of account managers?

My experience coaching football taught me the importance of motivation and constructive feedback. I believe in learning from mistakes rather than dwelling on them. I aim to lead by example and motivate my team, much like a captain would on a football field. It’s about guiding and supporting, rather than simply directing.

What else do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I like to stay active by hitting the gym and playing sports. It helps clear my mind and provides a healthy balance to my work life. Being fully remote allows me to interact with family and friends more, which I value.

Technology Partners gives back a ton to the St. Louis community…why is that important to you as an employee?

Giving back to the community has always been important to me, stemming from my experiences volunteering at church camp as a kid. Knowing that Technology Partners shares this commitment and has a dedicated team for giving back makes me proud to be a part of the company. We support various initiatives, which sets us apart and reinforces our values. I’m particularly fond of the Love the Lou program, and I’m grateful to be a part of it.
