Early in his career, Greg Nichols was a sought-after developer making his tour as a consultant at the major companies in St. Louis. After working for several staffing firms, Greg had a running list of ideas on how the contracting experience could be improved, but at an event with his consulting firm, Greg’s frustration came to a peak. While talking to some fellow contractors, Greg asked one developer where he was working. To Greg’s surprise, the man bragged that he wasn’t on assignment and wasn’t eager to find a new contract, because he was still getting paid while on “bench.” Greg realized that consultants who were actively on assignment had to fund those who were not through the margin his employer was taking. This unfair system sparked a revolutionary idea for a new way to staff.
Fueled by a passion for creating a fair and transparent way to do consulting for both the client and the contractor, Lisa and Greg Nichols founded Technology Partners on May 13th, 1994. They built their company on a transparent business model with a flat, fixed margin to benefit both their clients and consultants: better talent for the client and better rates for the consultant. Twenty years later, they still maintain this transparent model and have irrevocably changed the staffing industry for the better.
