What You Will Be Doing:

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Packaging Engineer with extensive experience in secondary packaging to join our team at our Hartwell, GA location. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, planning, and coordinating packaging processes from primary to secondary packaging for the production of wet and dry pet foods, pet treats, and cat litter. This role requires hands-on experience and expertise in packaging equipment engineering within a manufacturing or industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, conduct, and coordinate packaging process engineering functions, covering all aspects of packaging equipment, including primary and secondary packaging.
  • Provide packaging engineering process design and review for capital projects, including detailed phases of engineering work, related documentation, and field support.
  • Coordinate work with outside consultants and suppliers, ensuring alignment with company standards, principles, and practices.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts and provide technical assistance to operating facilities, including problem-solving and packaging process enhancements.
  • Apply understanding of line balancing, equipment specification, vendor coordination, factory acceptance testing, and site acceptance testing.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in packaging equipment engineering in a manufacturing, industrial, military, or related environment.
  • Strong experience in secondary packaging to ensure appropriate selection of equipment technologies for Packing Line 3.
  • Experience with Project Portfolio Management tools (PPM), such as Primavera P6 or MS Project, and layout software like AutoCAD or PackML.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% to equipment suppliers and construction sites for field data gathering, scope development, project reviews, and system FAT.
  • Steel-toe shoes are required and must be provided at the worker's expense.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Experience with Project Management (e.g., PMP/PMI).
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Green/Black Belt).
  • Proficiency in layout software (e.g., AutoCAD) and process flow tools (e.g., Visio).

Pay:  $61.08 – $87.26 /hr.
