What You Will Be Doing:
The Senior Infrastructure Specialist is responsible for LAN engineering design, review, and implementation for various capital and local factory projects. This role acts as a technical resource to factory teams, providing technical network assistance, support, and disseminating technical information regarding production LANs. The role also involves researching, proposing, and implementing new LAN technologies at various factory locations.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Plan, develop, coordinate, and direct projects related to the plant Local Area Network (LAN).
- Provide strategic direction in LANs and related technologies for all plant locations.
- Research and address problem areas within existing LANs and propose solutions to improve performance and efficiency.
- Conduct wireless surveys and make recommendations for optimizing factory wireless infrastructure.
- Support current LAN/WAN configurations at each factory while adhering to company standards and best practices.
- Provide on-call support for factory production after normal business hours on a rotating basis.
- Act as the primary contact for all issues related to LANs and associated technologies for internal and external entities outside of engineering.
- Serve as a technical expert and resource to the factories, troubleshooting difficult LAN/WAN issues.
- Interact with external vendors, operations, and plant personnel to obtain inputs.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as a subject matter expert in Cisco/HPE Aruba routers and switches.
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of industrial networking.
- Understand Cisco/HPE Aruba wireless networks, security, and connectivity.
- Support LAN topology design, configuration, and support, including VLAN architecture design.
- Make recommendations for new processes and technologies to improve network infrastructure.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or 5+ years of experience in a technology field.
- Certification(s): CCNA/CCNP or HPE Aruba certifications are preferred but not required.
- 5+ years of experience in two or more of the following:
- Cisco Switches/Routers/Industrial Switching
- HPE Aruba Switches/Routers/Industrial Switching
- Firewalls: CheckPoint, Fortinet, Cisco
- Wireless LAN controllers: Cisco, HPE Aruba
- Mobile Solutions
- Microwave/Laser Bridges
- LAN Network Monitoring devices: SolarWinds Orion, Pingdom, Cisco DNA Center, Aruba Central, ThousandEyes, Grafana, NetBrain
- ServiceNow ITSM
Desired Skills & Experience:
- Technical competency in Cisco/HPE Aruba routers and switches configuration and support.
- Working knowledge of Ethernet network troubleshooting tools and methodologies.
- Ability to design, configure, and support LAN topology and VLAN architecture.
- Strong understanding of Cisco/HPE Aruba wireless networks, security, and connectivity.
Pay: $67.90 – $97 /hr.
