What You Will Be Doing:
This remote position offers the flexibility to work from anywhere in the US, with a preference for candidates located in the St. Louis area or the Midwest. As a Senior Database Developer, you'll play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation and optimal performance of our database infrastructure. You'll collaborate with software developers, design efficient database models, and troubleshoot any database-related issues that arise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain complex database systems to support various applications and services
- Optimize database performance through indexing, query optimization, and tuning
- Collaborate with software developers on efficient database schema and model design
- Create and maintain comprehensive database documentation
- Conduct regular performance monitoring and tuning to ensure optimal database efficiency
- Troubleshoot and resolve database issues and provide technical support to development teams
- Stay up-to-date on the latest database technologies and best practices
- Develop and maintain SQL scripts for automation and deployment
- Utilize both database-first and code-first approaches as needed
- Develop and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and views
Required Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (preferred)
- Minimum 7+ years of experience as a Database Developer or similar role
- Proficiency in database technologies like SQL Server or similar
- Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with complex query development
- Solid understanding of database design principles, data modeling, and normalization
- Experience with database performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization
- Experience with software development lifecycle and packaging database changes for C# applications (or similar)
- Knowledge of database security practices
- Familiarity with ETL processes and tools (a plus)
Desired Skills & Experience:
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and tools
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
- Familiarity with replication, backup, and disaster recovery strategies
Pay: $54.60 – $78 /hr.
