What You Will Be Doing:
We're seeking an experienced Senior CloudOps Engineer to join our Environmental team. As a pivotal member of our team, you'll be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our cloud infrastructure to ensure the seamless operation of Bayer's Environmental and Digital Farming product pipelines and services. Collaboration with cross-functional teams including data engineers, data scientists, and software developers will be key to success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, deploy, and maintain scalable, secure, and highly available cloud infrastructure on platforms like Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and AWS.
- Implement and manage monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to address issues proactively.
- Develop and automate deployment processes for efficient infrastructure provisioning and configuration management.
- Integrate cloud infrastructure with CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows.
- Optimize data pipelines for performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Conduct performance tuning and capacity planning for optimal resource utilization.
- Participate in incident response and troubleshooting for production issues.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices for data security and regulatory requirements.
- Stay updated on emerging cloud technologies and evaluate their potential impact on our systems.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant field with 7+ years of job experience.
- Significant experience in cloud infrastructure management, preferably in data-intensive environments.
- Proficiency in cloud platforms such as GCP or AWS and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform.
- Strong programming or scripting skills in languages like GoLang, Python, or Bash.
- Experience with containerization technology (Docker, Kubernetes) and monitoring tools (Grafana, Prometheus).
- Solid understanding of networking concepts, security principles, and cloud best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- Proficiency in GoLang or Python.
- Experience in cloud cost monitoring and optimization.
- Knowledge of Service Level Indicators (SLIs), Objectives (SLOs), and Agreements (SLAs).
- Familiarity with multi-cloud environments and geospatial data processing.
- Experience with cloud-based machine learning services and data preprocessing techniques.
Pay: $87.50 – $125 /hr.
