What You Will Be Doing:

Join a cutting-edge team at the forefront of spatial and location data integration for digital products. As an Imagery Data Engineer, you will lead in designing, implementing, and maintaining data assets and capabilities crucial to Bayer Crop Science's Imagery pipelines and services in a multi-cloud environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with data engineers, data stewards, data scientists, platform engineers, and software developers to deploy large-scale cloud-based solutions
  • Implement and maintain scalable cloud infrastructures and optimize data pipelines
  • Monitor and troubleshoot issues in cloud environments, ensuring system performance, data integrity, and security
  • Participate in incident response and contribute to troubleshooting efforts for Imagery data pipelines and API services
  • Contribute to code quality practices, and participate in code reviews, testing, and other team activities to enhance delivery quality
  • Develop technical documentation to accurately represent application design and code
  • Optimize data pipelines for performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness in collaboration with stakeholders and platform engineers
  • Explore and recommend new solutions to improve existing processes and technologies

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field
  • Experience in engineering data-intensive solutions using streaming and/or API design principles
  • Proficiency in deploying pipeline solutions to cloud environments like AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Azure, etc., using services such as GCS/S3, GCE/EC2, Cloud Functions/Lambda, Pub/Sub/SQS/SNS, GKE/EKS, etc.
  • Strong understanding of data architecture and modeling, including both logical and physical models for datasets
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-based data stores like AWS Aurora Postgres, Google BigQuery, Elasticsearch, etc., and at least one NoSQL database
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and orchestration platforms
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools like Grafana, Prometheus, ELK stack, Datadog, or equivalent
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Proficiency in Golang or Python and associated geospatial libraries (GoDAL/GDAL, Rasterio, PyProj, PDAL, PySTAC, etc.)
  • Experience developing HTTP APIs (OpenAPI, REST, gRPC, GraphQL)
  • Knowledge of processing UAV or satellite imagery for modeling and analysis
  • Familiarity with cloud-based machine learning platforms and data science tools/libraries (AWS Sagemaker, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-Learn, Pandas, etc.)
  • Experience with Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) concepts and tools (GitHub Actions, Argo, etc.)
  • Interest or background in agriculture, life sciences, bioinformatics, environmental sciences, biology, or related STEM disciplines
  • Experience working with geospatial datasets and formats (WKT, geojson, COGs, OGC services, etc.)
  • Familiarity with SpatioTemporal Asset Catalog (STAC) specification and implementations
  • Experience developing Software Development Kits (SDKs) to advance software capabilities
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform
  • Knowledge of standard cloud authentication and authorization patterns

Pay: $85.40 – $122 /hr.
