What You Will Be Doing:
As a Data Engineer, you will be a critical member of a data engineering team focused on creating distributed analysis capabilities for various datasets. You will work with top-level talent to solve complex challenges with real-world impact, explore relevant technology stacks, and present your work at technical conferences.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a senior member of the data engineering team, focusing on distributed analysis capabilities.
- Apply deep knowledge of algorithms and data structures to improve and innovate software solutions continuously.
- Collaborate with other talented professionals to solve complex and unique challenges.
- Explore and implement relevant technology stacks for various datasets.
- Present your work at relevant technical conferences.
Required Skills & Experience:
- At least 7 years of experience in software engineering.
- At least 2 years of experience with Go.
- Proven experience (2 years) in building and maintaining data-intensive APIs using a RESTful approach.
- Experience with stream processing using Apache Kafka.
- Comfort with Unit Testing and Test Driven Development methodologies.
- Familiarity with creating and maintaining containerized application deployments using platforms like Docker.
- Proven ability to build and maintain cloud-based infrastructure on major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform).
- Experience in data modeling for large-scale databases, either relational or NoSQL
Desired Skills & Experience:
- Experience with protocol buffers and gRPC.
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform, Apache Beam, Google Cloud Dataflow, Google Kubernetes Engine, or Kubernetes.
- Experience working with scientific datasets or a background in quantitative science applications.
- Bioinformatics experience, especially with large-scale storage and data mining of variant data, variant annotation, and genotype-to-phenotype correlation.
Pay: $77 – $110 /hr.
