What You Will Be Doing:
Applies technical guidance, and hands-on assistance (when required), related to the installation and support of Network and Data Center Hardware within the company. These operational aspects may include but not be limited to infrastructure design recommendations, configuration recommendations, and installation of hardware and operating system software, logical and physical security systems, and development of related operating procedures. Provides leadership, vision, and direction to the Infrastructure Engineering team and stakeholders. Assumes responsibility for ensuring the efficient and effective operation of staff by: Reviewing and improving existing operating policies and procedures and ensuring their effective implementation and maintenance; implementing new procedures as required. Evaluating and determining personnel resource requirements from a workload, training and skill set view to support the needs of the company. Directs and executes plans for the improvement of the infrastructure services within the scope of this position. Develops, administers, and monitors support standards, policies, guidelines and procedures that will provide optimum system performance and availability. Performs research and development and makes recommendations regarding new technologies, tools and techniques (virtual, cloud computing, etc.) that would benefit the company. Works with all departments within the company to maintain and monitor security procedures at all times. Develops and maintains strategic working relationships with technology vendors; oversees purchase of infrastructure hardware/software. Works with the VP to develop business cases for large purchases where necessary. Acts as a focal point for directing resolution to high impact outages or significant organizational or process issues impacting service to the client. Manages Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity implementation, documentation, and testing. Participates in rotating on-call support. Responsible for resolution of service outages and other service problems during an on-call period. On-call may occur during standard or non-standard business hours. Additional responsibilities include project management, identifying opportunities for automation, cost savings, and business improvement.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Advanced knowledge of and demonstrated technical competency in data and voice communication networks, computer software/hardware and network administration.
  • Experience with Cisco Networking equipment, VMware and SAN technologies preferred.
  • Experience managing an Azure infrastructure environment would be a plus.
  • Strong project management skills, with experience in organizing, planning, and executing large-scale projects from vision through implementation, involving internal personnel, contractors and vendors; ability to analyze project needs and determine resources needed to meet objectives.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills to quickly identify complex technical and procedural problems and determine appropriate alternatives for a quick resolution.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with customers, associates, and senior management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to express complex technical concepts in business terms.
  • Willingness to acquire diverse skill sets as may be required to support the company
  • Ability to effectively lead staff to meet departmental objectives.
  • Track record of success working under stress and leading difficult and time-sensitive situations.
  • Limited travel may be required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems or computer engineering or equivalent work experience.
  • 7+ years of IT and business work experience including infrastructure design and deployment, systems lifecycle management and data center operations management.
  • 3-5 years of leadership experience.
