What You Will Be Doing:

As a Data Stewardship Lead, you will provide leadership in designing sessions with Stewards, Data Engineers, Engineering teams, Data Scientists, Product Managers, and business and/or IT stakeholders. Your role will involve understanding business capability needs, and processes, and implementing data solutions for data analysis and profiling. The Data Stewardship Lead will play a crucial role in promoting data governance, quality, and best practices within the organization.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Lead design sessions with various stakeholders to capture design documentation and business metadata.
  • Understand business capability needs and processes in collaboration with Product Managers and IT stakeholders.
  • Identify gaps in requirements based on business subject matter domain expertise.
  • Participate in data scraping, curation, and compilation efforts ensuring high-quality data to end-users.
  • Implement data solutions for analysis and profiling using tools such as SQL, Postman, R, or Python.
  • Lead discussions to document business logic and sources of data across business organizations.
  • Evangelize frameworks and objectives related to Governance, Data Quality, Data Wrangling, and Best Practices.
  • Set a strategy for automated data quality monitoring and implement solutions based on stakeholder engagement.
  • Utilize root cause analysis to identify trends and assess the impact of data quality issues.
  • Coordinate intake and resolution of data support tickets.
  • Partner with Data Governance to ensure data security and appropriate access management.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Science, Agriculture, or related field.

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver detailed technical documentation.
  • Experience with API development using resource-based design principles.
  • Applied experience with modern engineering technologies and data principles (Big Data Cloud Compute, NoSQL, etc.).
  • Considered a domain expert providing insight and authority to working groups.
  • Experience with agile development, continuous deployment, DevOps, and decision science.
  • Mentorship experience, guiding activities of junior team members.
  • Data Warehousing experience.
  • Technical proficiency with relevant skillsets like Data Warehousing, SQL, Python, and GCP BigQuery is required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable balancing demands across multiple projects/initiatives.
  • Time management skills.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Master’s Degree or Ph.D. in a relevant field.

  • 9 years of experience (or 7 years with Master’s Degree or 3 years with PhD) in relevant business domain.
  • Expert-level experience in the relevant business domain.
  • Proficiency in querying SQL and/or NoSQL databases.
  • Experience managing data using APIs.
  • Experience manipulating data using scripting languages and/or data processing software (Python, R, Pipeline Pilot, ETL applications).
  • Experience profiling data, summarizing, and reporting data quality metrics.
  • Agriculture domain knowledge and/or Big Query experience.

Pay: $60.90 – $87 /hr.
