About our client

Our client, one of the Midwest’s most prestigious private research institutions, is a leader in advancing scientific research, medical innovation, and public engagement. Known for its cutting-edge projects, the institution sought to develop a centralized platform for integrating and sharing data across multiple disciplines.

Challenge

Our client sought to achieve a bold vision: to create a centralized repository for diverse public data, allowing users to explore and analyze information independently. The project required the integration of over 110 datasets spanning structured, semi-structured, and unstructured formats, including complex geospatial data.

These datasets, which had never been viewed together before, presented significant technical and design challenges. The repository had to accommodate diverse user needs, provide advanced visualization options, and maintain a high level of accessibility for both academic researchers and the general public. The institution needed a solution capable of automating data ingestion, streamlining visualization, and delivering insights efficiently and intuitively.

Solution

Technology Partners developed a comprehensive solution built on an automated data fabric and a user-friendly Tableau dashboard. This platform was designed to handle the complexities of integrating and visualizing diverse datasets while ensuring accessibility and ease of use for all users.

Key features of the solution included:

  • Automated Data Ingestion: Streamlined integration of datasets covering public health, voting patterns, demographics, income levels, and historic redlining.
  • Self-Service Tableau Dashboard: An intuitive interface enabling users to visualize data through multi-layer maps, scatter plots, and tables.
  • AI-Ready Insights: A flexible data structure designed to support advanced AI applications, including natural language processing (NLP) and large language models.
  • Data Fabric Designed for AI: Created a data fabric solution utilizing Databricks and Databasin to tie together disparate data systems.

By combining technical innovation with intuitive design, the platform empowered users to engage with complex data independently and meaningfully.

Results

The Tableau dashboard transformed how our client and its users interact with public data. The automated data fabric eliminated the need for manual data ingestion and modeling, saving tens of thousands of labor hours. The live dashboard now provides up-to-date data for real-time insights and decision-making.

For the first time, institutional and public users can access and explore culturally significant research together. This shared platform fosters transparency and collaboration while enabling faster, data-driven decisions. The adaptable framework also supports additional AI insights, positioning the repository as a future-ready solution for evolving research needs.

This project demonstrates the transformative potential of a centralized, automated data platform. Helping our client enhance transparency and collaboration through cutting-edge technology was truly rewarding.
