Episode 122: The Power of Discernment w/ Myshel Wilkins

Myshel Wilkins shared with us, “It will not always be cookie-cutter situations when you are a leader and so, I believe the power of discernment helps you to know with wisdom how to deal with everyone you are working with.” Episode 122 comes with a handful of surprises and we cannot wait for you to experience it for yourself!

Bio: Myshel is a beautiful, multi gifted woman who uses every one of her gifts to uplift and encourage people all around the globe! A prolific speaker, recording artist, devoted wife, mother and deep lover of the Lord Jesus Christ, she finds the greatest joy in witnessing Gods freedom overtake the room and break stubborn chains! 

The deep rooted seeds of ministry were sown as she traveled to many countries singing and teaching alongside her missionary father as a young woman in South America. Her mother, a native of West Africa, Ghana encouraged her to believe God for what seems impossible. So with a heart full of dreams, she moved from her small hometown of Frankfort Ky, and headed to Nashville where she graduated from Tennessee State University with a BA in political science. She later entered the christian music arena playing a supporting role to many household names. She’s toured and sung background with Don Moen, Matthew West, Grammy Award winning artist TobyMac, and American Idol’s Mandisa. The 10+ years spent in the background taught her many incredible lessons but it wasn’t until she was asked to join the staff of Nashville Life Church, where Alvin & Cece (Winans) Love pastor, did “servant leader” take on a whole new meaning. Myshel served for 3 years as the membership coordinator, was a life group leader, on the NL leadership team and taught at their annual woman’s retreat. Cece Winans, is quoted as saying,

Myshel and her husband Michael recently relocated to Dallas, TX where she is on the worship team at Embassy City Church where  the awesome Tim and Juliette Ross pastor.
 
Since moving to Dallas, God has opened international doors. Myshel has ministered through leading worship and speaking in Metz, Nancy and Paris, France as well as Kampala, Uganda. While in Uganda, Myshel also works alongside Go-overflow ministries as their Director of Outreach. She works with this non profit to set up medical clinics in several impoverished villages, aids their amazing partners who rescue children from the slums and vulnerable young girls from exploitation. Myshel has a heart for the nations and through the power of the Holy Spirit, goes wherever led to sing over and speak into the lives of the broken hearted.
 
Myshel loves people and deeply desires to see them living in the freedom God intended.  She has a new show and Podcast called “Embracing Freedom Today” that airs on the new Life Network for Women, spearheaded by Paula White-Cain. This is an exciting new network designed to encourage and empower women of faith.

The Kentucky native was elected by her peers to reign as “Miss Tennessee State University” where she received her degree in Political Science. In that same year, Myshel won the national title of “Miss National Black Hall of Fame”. She has used these platforms to inspire women to look beyond the surface to the radiant, royal queens within.

People hear, receive information, and communicate differently… you’ve got to be able to see and hear beyond what is being shown to you. You have to be able to discern a heart and know how to deal with them. It will not always be cookie cutter situations when you are a leader and so, I believe the power of discernment helps you to know with wisdom how to deal with everyone you are working with.”
